Most contractors track the wrong numbers. They stare at revenue, bank balance, and net profit and think they have control. They don’t.
Those are lagging indicators. The contractors who scale more profitably pay attention to leading indicators like gross profit by job, overhead trend, backlog quality, pipeline quality, collections, cost per lead, employee stability, customer satisfaction, and safety.
If you wait for net profit to tell you there’s a problem, you’re already late.
